Water-Right, Inc., based in Appleton, Wisconsin, is A. O. Smith's water quality solutions provider with a complete line of residential and commercial products and systems for a wide variety of applications, including solutions for problem well water. Water-Right products are sold under the Evolve®, WaterCare®, Sanitizer Series®, Impression Series® and CustomCare® product brands. In addition to its advanced and innovative product solutions, Water-Right also has a retail facility, Water-Right Services, and a state-certified lab, Clean Water Testing LLC™, specializing in water analytical services. 

Primary Function

Working primarily within the manufacturing side of our business, incumbent will design, implement and monitor a variety of human resources and safety programs.  Incumbent will anticipate and plan for long-term human resource needs and trends in partnership with business management. 

  • Employee Relations – Counseling, coaching, corrective action counseling and retirement counseling at all levels
  • Participates in managing local recruiting and hiring practices
  • Provide support in one or more functional HR areas, including but not limited to: recruitment, student programs, employment, employee/industrial relations, benefits/payroll administration (including various types of leaves of absence), compensation, organization development, performance management, training, educational assistance, EEO/AA compliance, diversity, international assignments/immigration, relocation, special projects and record keeping.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of human resources policies, procedures and practices
  • General event and community relations event coordinator
  • Written communications such as authoring announcements, policies, intranet content and general correspondence
  • Represent assigned division on the A. O. Smith Global EHS Council
  • Provide management of assigned division to the EHS programs utilizing A. O. Smith’s EHS policy and ensure the division maintains strict compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements
  • Maintain the plant ISO procedures (currently under development) and conduct internal process audits
  • Lead the plant EHS team/committee
  • Assist in providing safety/OSHA required training and conduct safety audits/inspections
  • Assist in the collection, treatment, storage, transportation, and shipping of all wastes for safe and legal handling
  • Implement safety programs, develop and deliver safety communication, and ensure that safety policies and procedures are followed
  • Prepare and provide various EHS reports (e.g., OSHA incidents, energy usage, etc.)
  • A bachelor's degree is required
  • A minimum of 2 years of related work experience or training is also required
  • PHR or SPHR certification is preferred
  • Prior EHS work experience is also preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
  • Excellent written and oral Communication Skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to deal comfortably with all levels of management
  • SAP, SuccessFactors and/or Kronos Experience preferred
