Engineering Technician

Primary Function

The Engineering Technician is responsible for developing, implementing and troubleshooting equipment to improve safety, quality, productivity and cost.  Works with other engineering resources to support continuous improvement initiatives and assists with development and delivery of training programs.

Responsibilities
  1. Leads improvements and troubleshoots welding and metal forming equipment.
  2. Leads improvements for assembly line production to increase productivity.
  3. Maintains and presents scrap reports and other cost saving initiatives.
  4. Conducts time studies for assembly lines and work cells for lean manufacturing initiatives.
  5. Collects and analyzes data from Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) production system.
  6. Trains employees on proper operation of welding and production related equipment.
  7. Travel as necessary for training and trials.
  8. Coordinate and support installation of new equipment and systems.
  9. Delivers presentations on proposals and program results to management teams.
  10. Must be able to work within a team environment to collaborate and share ideas.
  11. Strictly follow company safety policies and procedures.
  12. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Two year technical degree required (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
  • One to two years’ experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Applicants must complete a Microsoft Office Assessment, Mechanical Reasoning and Industrial Math Assessment.
  • Basic mechanical skills for hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office Skills (Excel Pivot Tables & Charts)
  • Ability to solve problems using a variety of cause analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of SAP and Kronos software applications is highly desirable.
  • Excellent in multi-tasking, organizing, and prioritization skills.
  • Show initiative, have ability to identify problems and exercise good decision-making.
Physical Requirements
  • Loud noises and limited exposure to dust and fumes.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toe shoes/boots, ear and eye protection.  
  • Prolonged periods of sitting/standing and frequent bending and reaching.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds overhead and maneuver various parts weighting up to 50 lbs.
  • Variable hot and cold working environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
