Primary Function

The Global Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for working with various facilities to optimize existing footprint utilization and manufacturing processes, and creating plans for future growth (up to and including facility expansions and new green field opportunities) in a global organization.

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Value Stream Mappings of existing manufacturing processes including identification of process related bottlenecks and capacity limitations
  • Establish relationships and understanding of site process and facility footprint challenges, and work with local plant experts and specific manufacturing teams to analyze work force utilization, space requirements and work flow
  • Develop forward looking facility layouts to optimize existing plant footprint utilization
  • Evaluate alternatives for meeting future growth (up to and including expansions, acquisitions)
  • Provide governance for risk management and long term sustainability considerations including safety and security requirements, environmental compliance, building and facility codes, and supporting infrastructure needs
  • Provide advisory review and guidance on suggested process changes (by site) and capital projects affecting equipment layout and workspace utilization
  • Investigate technologies for alignment and assure automation strategies are developed and implemented to help advance manufacturing capabilities
  • Provide support for special projects and value realization initiatives
  • Facilitate multi-site / cross-functional collaborative efforts and consensus decision making
  • Coordinate commissioning and/or decommissioning of facilities and manufacturing processes


  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience with Value Stream Mapping and Process Analysis
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and other Continuous Improvement Methodologies
  • Highly motivated with strong understanding of manufacturing processes and capacity studies
  • Self-starter who can prioritize based on overall goals and objectives
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and as a leader/member of a team in meeting defined goals & objectives, and deadlines
  • Good management skills and proven ability to influence without authority
  • Able to plan, develop, and execute tactical and strategic manufacturing initiatives, and must carry out duties with the utmost integrity
  • Able to facilitate and foster good cross-functional, multi-site relationships that promote cooperation and consensus between global team members, surmounting language / communication and cultural barriers
  • Demonstrated problem solving experience using root cause analysis with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally upwards of 50% of the time as business needs dictate
  • Proficiency with computers and programs, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of facility specifications and compliance requirements including safety and security, environmental, building and facility codes, and supporting infrastructure(s)
