Primary Function

Anticipates and plans for long-term human resource needs and trends in partnership with business management.  Responsible for all HR functions on 2nd shift for 350 employees.


The qualified candidate will be the human resources leader on 2nd shift at our Ashland City, TN water heating facility.  This position has one salaried direct report.  Specific areas of responsibility to include the following:


  • Align site HR objectives with the business to drive organizational value; actively partner with site leadership, North American leadership and corporate human resource teams to drive continuous improvement towards expected business results.
  • Partner with site leadership team to foster a culture of mutual trust and respect, maintaining the site's positive culture.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement of site's employee engagement efforts, providing consultation and recommendations to key stakeholders in the areas of talent management, employee relations, change management, performance management, safety, wellness, and other people initiatives.
  • Partner with operations management to help foster effective relationships and two-way communication by participating in skip-level and communication meetings.
  • Coach front-line supervisors through employee relations and performance management issues.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for employee questions, concerns, suggestions, and needs.
  • Proactively address potential morale issues, involving the appropriate stakeholders and driving issues to closure.
  • Work closely with HR Coordinators to develop their technical and leadership skills.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.


  • Must have at least 3 years of work experience in human resources.
  • Must have at least 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Manufacturing experience highly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or another related discipline is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to tailor message based on audience is also required.
  • Must be able to operate with a sense of urgency with demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, develop and execute action plans and evaluate the results of action plans.
  • Must have strong problem solving track record with the ability to drive to root cause.
  • Ability to get things done through others while balancing the people and culture implications of change.
  • Excellent project management skills, and the ability to stay on top of daily issues and move projects forward in parallel.
  • Understanding of manufacturing shop floor environment and operations is preferred.
  • PC proficient with the ability to navigate HRIS systems (SAP, Kronos, etc.).
