Smith's North American Water Treatment Division.  Not only did Hague Quality Water double in growth in 2018 when their products became featured at Lowe's stores nationwide, but between April - June 2020 as compared to the same time last year, this division experienced 19% organic growth.  Since 1960, Hague Quality Water has been a leader of innovative water treatment technology, with a broad portfolio of water softening and water treatment products.  We currently operate 17 injection molding machines to supply 3 production lines in our Groveport, Ohio facility.

Position Summary

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Molding Process Engineer to provide technical expertise and leadership to the injection molding department.  This position will be directly responsible for the processing of our injection molding tools and much of the Molding Process Engineer's time will be spent on the floor at the molding machines.  The Molding Process Engineer will work with Quality, Production, Engineering and Maintenance departments to create, standardize, and improve our manufacturing processes in the Molding department.

Responsibilities
  • Provide ownership of processing of our injection molding tools and equipment for the reduction in defects, overall process improvement and/or the reduction of downtime.
  • Develop and modify robot programs to handle/remove parts.
  • Serve in a technical role for process, molds, equipment and product improvements focused in our injection molding department.
  • Drive the reduction of scrap through process change or identification of mold maintenance issues.
  • Assist in the selection and implementation of new equipment and tooling in accordance with the manufacturing strategic plan, including writing Capital requests.
  • Works with Quality and Engineering departments on activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.
  • Support new tool reviews and validation to ensure reliable and robust production processes.
  • Provides and updates process documentation and operating instructions.
  • Helps identify ways to reduce production costs and increase uptime.
  • Provide first line of troubleshooting before working with maintenance to correct any issues with tools or machines.
  • Limited travel (less than 10%) to tool builders or equipment manufacturers for validations and approvals.
  • Limited work on 2nd or 3rd shift schedule for training or coverage as needed.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field or 5+ years of plastic mold processing experience with increasing responsibility. 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in injection molding processing, tooling and equipment.  
  • Strong analytical and creative thinking skills for effective decision-making. 
  • Master molder or similar training/certification a plus. 
  • Familiar with reading technical schematics and drawings.
Additional Qualifications
  • Knowledge of injection molding and assembly machines, molds and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Electrical and mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability desired.
  • DOEs and Scientific Molding process experience is a plus.
  • Ability to plan and organize, facilitate change, initiate action, communicate effectively, problem solve, and maintain quality and customer focus.
  • Statistical Process Control background is a plus.
