Primary Function

The CAD Operator II will be responsible for updating and creating standard and moderately complex items, drawings, and documentation to support engineering development for fabricated, assembled, and purchased parts. The incumbent will utilize CAD and other necessary equipment to develop accurate and complete designs.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a team member within the CAD Department and other departments to create or alter drawings per Engineering Change Request.
  • Apply a basic understanding of 2D and 3D CAD commands and other 3rd party software needed to complete designs and drafts.
  • Work in accordance with policies and procedures within the department to assign part numbers, redline bills of material, revise drawings and work Engineering Change Requests into Engineering Change Orders while utilizing PLM system.
  • Confer with other CAD personnel, seeking input from more experienced operators as needed, to create and release non-production drawings for literature, presentations and marketing.
  • Communicate with engineering personnel to insure correct part numbering assignment and insure drawings are in accordance with drafting standards.
  • Use measuring devices to check or create manufactured and/or purchased parts.
  • Assist less experienced operators with the completion of ECO documentation and requests and import/export linkage, as necessary.
  • Monitor general housekeeping and maintenance of working areas.
  • Any other duties assigned to complete daily objectives.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in related field
  • 3+ years of related work experience or training
  • A good understanding of data management or PLM is preferred.
  • Possess good working knowledge of the Windows platform and understands basic windows commands and has a good understanding of windows file system.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as, Engineering Change Request, Red lines, ANSI standards, operating and maintenance instructions, Corporate rules and regulations as well as departmental procedures.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as trigonometry, geometry, algebra and basic equations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to task for determination of area, percentages, volume and tolerance build up.  Ability to read measuring instruments to calculate overall dimensions fit and build-up.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
