This position sits at our Lochinvar location in Lebanon, TN, (just east of Nashville) which offers a newer facility, quick & easy commute and plenty of things to do nearby!  Relocation assistance to the Nashville area will be available to highly qualified candidates.    

Primary Function

As the Commodity Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic development, implementation and continuous improvement of a competitive supply chain related to assigned commodities for all manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, develop and recognize strategic opportunities to maximize the value of the assigned commodity to both the internal and external customer.
  • Work with related operational areas to gain an excellent understanding of commodity applications in various operations.
  • Maintain an excellent communication and rapport with each manufacturing facility concerning ongoing use of assigned commodities and needs for current and future discussions/negotiations with supply base.
  • Work with all Commodity Managers, Operations, and Product Engineering to meet and exceed annualized cost reduction target for the Global Procurement team.
  • Interface with multiple functional areas within a matrix management organizational structure (e.g., Product Engineering, Plant Operations, Finance, etc.). 
  • Provide leadership to the cross functional team involved in the resourcing, problem resolution, commodity development or negotiation strategy as needed to execute the approved supply chain strategy.
  • Establish strong communication and coordination with the Global Sourcing Manager.  Work jointly to develop cost reduction and value enhanced procurement opportunities outside the United States. 
  • Meet and exceed all objectives for assigned commodities.  Personal objectives to clearly support Global Procurement objectives in aggregate.
  • Travel to manufacturing facilities as required which may include international travel.
  • Develop excellent knowledge concerning all facets of the supply chain from suppliers’ sources to end customer concerning manufacturing processes and final application of all assigned commodities.
  • Possess demonstrated skill set concerning computer-based applications such as ERP systems, inventory replenishment systems, etc. in support of negotiated supply agreements.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of related work experience
  • Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) and Electronic Design Service for product development negotiation experience required.
  • Proven success in a self-motivating, results-oriented environment.
  • Excellent record of successful strategic sourcing initiatives (total cost of ownership, cost analysis, financial impacts, and time value of money).
  • Excellent applied negotiating skills (tactics, techniques, strategies).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to serve as a project lead across multiple functional areas.
  • Excellent computer-based skills including spreadsheet development, charting, word processing and PowerPoint capabilities
  • Familiarity with electronic and electrical components used for PCBAs, Wire Harnesses and Displays. 
  • Understanding of electronic/electrical industry practices and terminology.
