Primary Function

This Senior Buyer is responsible for strategic purchasing projects through the development and maintenance of strategic supplier relationships utilizing advance procurement techniques and systems to maximize annual cost savings and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Commodity Team to develop long term supplier agreements with strategic suppliers and develop cost savings realization
  • Manages complex commodities with knowledge of Trade Compliance (customs and import requirements) and overseas supplier management
  • Participates in Project Management with Engineering and Commodity team for new releases and redesigns for smooth transition to production
  • Maintain planning parameters for purchased materials in alignment with inventory and commodity goals for operations
  • Analyze and action planner messages per purchasing processes and procedures
  • Confirm timely and complete receipts according to production requirements. Approve/obtain approval on invoices as needed
  • Measure and monitor supplier performance in areas of on time delivery, cost of poor quality, and purchase price variance
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action when suppliers are non-compliant in any area
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels to support production and inventory turn objectives; review inventory levels systematically and in warehouse
  • Work cross-functionally with quality, planning, inventory control and receiving to resolve issues

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Must have a proven track record of team participation success
  • Commodity-based purchasing experience with U.S. and International suppliers is desired
  • A bachelor's degree is required or equivalent experience and CPM/CPIM certification
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of related work experience and training in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have ERP experience; SAP experience is a plus 
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in other languages such as Spanish, Italian, German or Polish is a plus
