Production Supervisor

Primary Function

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the efficient operation of Manufacturing Department, the direction of the plant work force and the meeting of daily production schedules.  Supervises and coordinates activities of Leaders and workers. Verifies correct manufacturing processes are adhered to. Works with other operators, engineers and quality personnel to identify and resolve potential customer issues.

Responsibilities

• Leading their teams to meet targets for Daily Production, Quality, Labor Efficiency, and Adherence to the principles of the A. O. Smith Operating System.
• Becoming a Lean expert to drive Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing programs.
• Establishing a safe workplace through employee involvement.
• Inspecting product to verify conformance to specifications; analyze all non conformances for root cause and implement corrective procedures.
• Recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product, driving participation in CI efforts on operator level.
• Develop and promote positive relations with employees through effective communication of company policies and procedures, recognition and employee involvement.
• Responsible for coordination and implementation of the cross training program, the manufacturing training program and departmental rotation plans.
• Study production schedules, estimate man-hours requirements for completion of job assignment and make appropriate action plans.
• Responsible for timely completion of all manufacturing production schedules including subassemblies, service requirements, and other department requests.

Qualifications

• Supervisor experience within manufacturing, leadership skills, understand basic principles of human resources and manufacturing process, ability to make decisions and the willingness to follow policies and procedures. 
• Supervisor experience in the water heater, manufacturing industry is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license
• Valid forklift driver’s license
• Excellent communication skills via written and oral
• High School Diploma or GED
