We are currently seeking a Corporate Communications Intern at our World Headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The individual will start during the Spring 2019 semester and work year-round on a part-time basis (15-30 hours/week).  This is an opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate majoring in Journalism, Digital or Mass Communications to work with a small, but ambitious, corporate communications department. You will participate in a wide range of internal and external communications activities during this assignment.

Responsibilities

 

DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS

 

  1. WEBSITES
    • Research and develop content for AOSNET — the company’s intranet. This includes content creation, content migration, SEO, metadata development and site testing.
    • Assist with content creation for the company’s external web site, www.aosmith.com.
       
  2. SOCIAL MEDIA
    • Draft copy for the company’s LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter sites.
       
  3. PUBLIC RELATIONS
    • Assist with the development and distribution of media materials, including news releases, media alerts and contributed articles.
       
  4. EVENTS
    • Help to plan and execute company events and internal awards programs.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree program with a major in Journalism, Digital or Mass Communications, or related field
    • Master's degree preferred but not required
  • Concentration in Corporate Communications or Public Relations is preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated experience in interviewing and writing for the web and or publications
  • Proven experience with digital communications
  • Process planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
