What You Will Do


As the Director of Finance and Business Analysis, you will be responsible for financial analysis as part of AO Smith.   You will partner with the leaders of our key growth businesses driving the strategy of the, financial reporting, analysis, and profitability improvement.  In this role, you will also establish annual financial budgets and plans, complete monthly forecasts and ensure proper accounting policies are followed.  You will work closely with the Director of Audit and the Controller to establish appropriate documentation and ensure procedures and policies are implemented for the business to comply with Sarbanes Oxley compliance.   

You will report to the President of North America Water Treatment.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Partner with the business unit leadership to manage the financial P&L
  • Act as financial liaison between the operating business and corporate accounting and finance function
  • Build annual budget, quarterly and monthly forecasts, and drive the month and quarter end books
  • Provide all aspects of financial and business analysis support
  • Drive improved process and profitability
  • Lead and complete proper financial reporting
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls exist as well as compliance with Sarbanes Oxley
  • Coordinate all aspects of financial and business support through corporate (IT, Insurance, legal and compliance)
  • Coordinate internal and external audit activities as scoped annually
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting systems to ensure timely and accurate information is presented and interpreted
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a financial role in a publicly traded company
  • Experience doing financial planning and analysis in a large corporate organization
  • Strong analytical and technical accounting skills
  • Good understanding of G/L systems and structure
  • Ability to influence and drive change in an organization
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage a team with direct reports in multiple locations across the US


  • Experience in the SAP and BPC reporting environments
  • SEC and public company reporting
