Primary Function

The Global Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for working with various facilities to optimize material process flows, footprint utilization, capacity and labor productivity initiatives associated with manufacturing processes, and creating plans for future growth (up to and including facility expansions and new green field opportunities) in a global organization. 

Scope of Responsibility

Works with Global Director of Manufacturing & Process Engineering, facility manufacturing engineering, maintenance & production, and their respective teams to help achieve capacity and labor productivity objectives. This position will also provide lean manufacturing support for strategic initiatives associated with material process flows, time studies and facility footprint utilization. Based on business needs, this position will also provide project management and process engineering support for various manufacturing processes. 

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Facilitate value stream mapping of existing manufacturing processes including time studies, identification of process related bottlenecks, capacity limitations, and propose solutions to address (including Automation technologies, and synergies with our Digital Transformation initiatives – smart manufacturing, etc).
  • Develop forward looking facility layouts to optimize existing plant footprint utilization.
  • Provide lean manufacturing engineering support on suggested manufacturing process changes (by site) and capital projects affecting equipment layout and workspace utilization.
  • Provide management and process engineering support for special projects and value realization initiatives.
  • Facilitate multi-site / cross-functional collaborative efforts and consensus decision making.
  • Coordinate commissioning and/or decommissioning of facilities and manufacturing processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related Engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of experience with manufacturing related processes
  • Experience with value stream mapping, time studies, capacity and labor productivity,  and process data analysis
  • Experience with metal processing a PLUS
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Able to facilitate cross-functional, multi-site relationships that promote cooperation and consensus between global team members (process standardization).
  • Able to plan, develop, and execute tactical and strategic manufacturing initiatives, and must carry out duties with utmost integrity.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally (upwards of 50% or as business needs dictate).
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who can prioritize based on overall goals and objectives.
  • Good project management skills with proven ability to influence without authority a PLUS 
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient with computers and programs, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
