This role is located in our modern Nashville Metro Center office, located just minutes from downtown with easy interstate access and free parking.

Primary Function

The Master Data Manager is responsible for establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices, both at the Department and functional Business Unit level, to achieve the required consistency, quality and protection to meet the overall business needs. In addition, this position is responsible for driving continuous improvement of the data quality in the Customer, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources (Employee), Materials, Product, and Vendor domains through development and oversight of the data owners, stewards, and custodians.

Scope of Responsibility

  • Provide oversight and direction to the Data Domain Owners, Stewards, and Custodians who are responsible for managing data within the domains across all business units and sites utilizing SAP.
  • Develop the Data Governance strategy and manage all aspects of the Data Governance program and roadmap including continuous improvement activities, departmental procedure development, business analytics, performance metrics, and reporting. 
  • Lead the Executive Steering Committee meetings to provide status updates to the strategic roadmap, benchmarking, compliance, performance, and internal measure comparisons.

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Work with the business to create and grow the Master Data Creation and Management (MDCM) environment for A.O. Smith
  • Oversee the management and execution of the Data Governance Program and Roadmap.
  • Engage with all levels of the Data Governance structure, i.e. the Executive, Strategic, Tactical and Operational levels. 
  • Oversee functions related to the collection, aggregation, consolidation, maintenance, and distribution of data throughout the organization and ensure the integrity of the master data. .
  • Provide oversight of the data management system while ensuring the proper procedures are in place for maintaining data integrity.
  • Define, develop and measure data quality analytics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Effectively analyze the probability and impact of risks identified through root cause analysis and effectively implement mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate development and training of data quality practice.
  • Prepare planning, budgeting and forecasting activities for the Data Governance Organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (MBA preferred) 
  • 10-15 years of total Data Governance and Business experience in manufacturing environment
  • 3-5 years managing an enterprise-wide data quality program
  • Leadership/Interaction skills with executive management
  • Proven ability to lead through influence.
  • Strong understanding of data, data flows and how data supports various business processes in a manufacturing/supply chain environment
  • Executive-level presentation skills
  • Strategic business understanding and vision and the ability to translate strategy into tactical execution.
  • Understanding of data quality and data risk management, including understanding of standards, methods, processes, tools, and controls
  • PMP and /or CPIM/CIMP Certifications are a plus
