This role is located in our modern Nashville Metro Center office, located just minutes from downtown with easy interstate access and free parking.

Primary Function

Innovation has a name, and it is A.O. Smith, the global leader in water technology.  We have unique opportunity on our Product Lifecycle Management solutions team for a recent Engineering graduate with 3D CAD experience, a passion for technology (software development, computers, networking), an interest in business, and leadership aspirations. This position will start as part of a cross-functional leadership development program receiving 3 months of training and exposure across the broader A.O. Smith organization before transitioning to the role on the PLM solutions team.

Scope of Responsibility

The PLM solutions team maintains the processes and tools that assist the ideation, design, launch, service, and retirement of our world class Water Heaters, Boiler, and Water Treatment products. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of A.O. Smith’s PLM processes and tools
  • Administer, implement, install, configure, and support SOLIDWORKS and SAP Engineering Control Center (SAP ECTR)
  • Facilitate standardization of CAD best practices across Engineering teams
  • Support Product Data Management (PDM), Document Management (DMS), and Workflow solutions
  • Work closely with Master Users and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to enhance our PLM solution by:
    • gathering and validating requirements.
    • configuring solution functionality
    • working closely with software development teams to clarify and refine requirements
    • developing test plans, scripts, and data sets 
    • developing training material and training end users
  • Support data integration, mapping, conversion, and quality initiatives
  • Support PLM and ERP site implementations
  • Monitor PLM industry trends and best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another related discipline
  • While 6 months or more of related work or internship experience is a plus, it is not required
  • Experience with 3D parametric solid modeling software
    • SOLIDWORKS preferred
  • Naturally curious, a quick learner and strong problem solver
  • Good organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
  • Academic exposure to project management, business, software development, or database management would be beneficial
