Primary Function

The incumbent specializes in the organization, coordination, problem resolution, and standardization of Inventory Control processes and procedures to ensure inventory accuracy throughout the facility. Deploys inventory strategies and builds cultural understanding with all departments for systematic and physical movement of materials.

Responsibilities

Role Specific Responsibilities

  1. Work with Supervisor to create inventory control policies and procedures.
  2. Work cross-functionally with all departments to deploy and ensure adherence to inventory policies; solicit input for improvement and drive cultural change.
  3. Schedules and plans freight transfers between sites
  4. Handles all freight transfers
  5. Locate, analyze and reconcile inventory discrepancies with assistance from inventory control team; complete inventory adjustments as required with proper documentation.
  6. Facilitate productive, value added meetings to determine root cause of inventory inaccuracies and deploy corrective actions as appropriate.
  7. Work with the Lean initiative to improve and maintain inventory.
  8. Set processes and communicate to the appropriate functions regarding the handling/disposition of excess/obsolete items.
  9. Work with the Kanban system to eliminate shortages, align production to customer demand, provide the signal to produce controlled by appropriate trigger, stabilize production processes, control the amount of inventory in the system and promote improvement.
  10. Update and maintain Kanban tag system including printing tags and documenting changes in the Access spreadsheet.
  11. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

  • Understand the process of Product Life Management (PLM) and the role inventory control fulfills through the entire product life cycle.
  • Ability to understand Bills of Materials (BOM’s) and how materials are consumed throughout the process with transactional data as well as physical product flow. 
  • Ability to work with various users of inventory to educate and promote mutual goals.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  •  Ability to meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels and across departments.

Education

Associate Degree in Related Field

Years of Experience

Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or training
