Primary Function

The Senior Cost Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining standard costs and ongoing analysis. This role will be a key member of the accounting team in providing costing support and partner with other functional areas of the business.

Responsibilities

• Setting standard costs of manufactured goods.
• Developing labor, overhead, and freight rates for use in developing standard costs.
• Maintain standard cost accounting system and analyze manufacturing variances including scrap, purchase price variance, and production order variances.
• Analyze costs incurred, cost of production, and the valuation of inventory.
• Prepare various daily, weekly, and monthly management reports.
• Prepare journal entries in support of end of month close process.
• Prepare accounts reconcilements including inventory perpetual to general ledger.
• Recommending changes to company processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit.
• Audit inventory cycle count and scrap income transactions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting or finance
• 3+ years of experience in cost accounting
• Experience with proper procedures for month-end cutoff transactions & reconcilement of sub-ledgers to the general ledger

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• SAP experience is desirable
• Excellent data analysis skills
