Primary Function
Under direction of supervisor, set up and investigate claims filed by homeowners and insurance companies.
Responsibilities
- Exercises proper judgment and decision making to analyze the claims exposure, to determine the proper course of action and to appropriately settle the claim with the approval of the supervisor.
- Interacts extensively with various parties involved in the claim process.
- Able to clearly communicate concise action plans, and present plans for moving the case to conclusion.
- Will demonstrate complete knowledge of the claim file process through presentation of actions and responses to client questions.
- Processes claims consistent with clients’ and corporate policies, procedures and “best practices” and also in accordance with any statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements.
- Utilizes various methods of investigation and negotiates settlement with claimants in accordance with prescribed authority.
- Continue education in the claims field as recommended by supervisor.
- Continue to learn the reporting side of the Riskmaster system.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Role Specific Responsibilities
File Handling:
- Handle product liability claims submitted to A.O. Smith Risk Management Department by homeowners, plumbers, insurance carriers and attorneys.
- Claims demand cap at $25,000.00
- Pending averages 50 files
- Researched applicable systems (Salesforce, Eportal, AquaHub, SAP)
- Reviews damages supports, proof of payment made by carrier to insured
- Negotiates Claims Settlements with the carriers/homeowners or denies liability with explanation of denial.
- Learn Products and their failures.
- Learn to make decision of liability.
- Send out a Release to Carrier/homeowner/attorney once the settlement amount is reach
- Request payments for settled claims.
Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred.
- Insurance Classes preferred.
- Insurance Certifications (preferred, but not required)
- Proficient computer sills, especially MS Office and internet browsers
- DXC Assure System knowledge, helpful.
- Salesforce, SAP Systems, Knowledge helpful
- Good communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and work under time/date drive deadlines
- Good customer interactions, sense of urgency and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of accepted industry standard and practices
- Computer experience with related claims and business software.
