Our Charlotte, North Carolina facility is home to the A. O. Smith Water Systems Division, where we engineer and manufacture expansion tanks for water heating systems along with storage and well water tanks.
Primary Function
The Maintenance Tech I (2nd Shift) performs a variety of general maintenance duties which include but are not limited to low voltage electrical, mechanical, and plumbing repairs and preventive maintenance duties in a manufacturing facility.

Regularly Scheduled Hours: 2nd Shift; 3:30pm - 12:00am
Pay: $23.50/hr
Sign On Bonus Opportunity: $1500
- $500 at 90th day of hire, $500 at 180th day of hire, $500 at 365th day of hire
- Must not be on a corrective action for attendance to qualify for bonus payments

Responsibilities
- Work safely following OSHA standards, always wear required PPE while working, safety toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, face shields, gloves.
- Perform LOTO while working on equipment.
- Complete work orders and PM tasks in a timely manner.
- Inspect buildings and equipment to ensure safe well-maintained conditions, identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repairs.
- Perform minor troubleshooting and repairs such as lighting, filters, conveyors, plumbing and painting.
- Perform mechanical duties such as repairing or replacing drive belts, gearboxes, motors, bearings, shafts, chains, hydraulic hoses, welding electrodes and airlines.
- Perform PM tasks such as replacing filters, greasing bearings, cleaning tank screens, inspect machinery per instruction.
- Operate shop tools, drills, saws, grinders, welders, etc.
- Welding knowledge, stick, TIG, MIG.
- Assist other Techs with tasks.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- A minimum of two (2) years of related work experience or a combination of a Maintenance trade education and work experience is also required
- Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to communicate with team members and staff on tasks being performed
