Job Description:                     Mfg. Support/Technical - Quality Technician

Schedule:                            2nd Shift 

Basic Function: 

This position reports to the Quality Manager.  Prospective candidates should already possess the following skills and abilities or be able to reach the required level of knowledge after a short period of on the job training.  Candidates for this position must be 100% flexible and available for day shift, night shift, overtime, and weekend work including Sundays and some holidays on a week-to-week as-needed basis.  


  • Must have the ability to see to a corrected or uncorrected 20/40 standard.
  • Must be able to pass a standard Ishihara test for color vision.
  • Must possess enough hand and arm strength to operate ordinary hand tools daily.
  • Must be able to lift to forty pounds from floor level to waist without excessive strain or exertion.
  • Must be able to read and write the English language with proficiency.
  • Must be able to spend up to 50% of time on shift standing or walking.
  • Must be proficient in basic mathematics including ratios, fraction and decimals.
  • Must be able to read and interpret standard engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Must be able to use measuring and test equipment such as carpenter’s tapes, calipers, micrometers and electronic test equipment such as multimeters with proficiency.
  • Must be familiar with standard business applications such as word processor, spreadsheet and database programs.


Candidates will be required to demonstrate competency in core skill areas.  Competency evaluations will be used in the form of a written and/or practical examination. HR will contact you for the scheduling of your examination. You must complete and pass the examination prior to the interview process. 


Duties and Responsibilities:             

  • Employee must have excellent job performance and attendance.
  • Provide support to the production departments on all quality-related issues.
  • Perform inspection and verification operations on incoming parts and materials.
  • Perform inspection and verification operations on in-process and finished goods.
  • Perform evaluation, inspection and sorting operations on rejected material.
  • Perform quality audits of manufacturing processes.
  • Perform studies of manufacturing processes for process control and improvement.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Quality Manager.


Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing quality or leadership role is a plus.
  • ASQ or equivalent professional certification (CQT, CQI, CQA, CQE, CCT) is preferred.
  • Advanced mathematics including basic statistics, algebra and trigonometry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control techniques is a plus.
  • Familiarity with standards-based gauge calibration systems and calibration systems and calibration software is a plus.
  • Experience with ISO 9001-based systems for quality management is a plus.


Candidates for the position must be of strong character.  The Quality Technician must be able to take an informed position on quality related issues and hold their ground in the face of scheduling and delivery pressures.  Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision and must be able to exercise independent initiative as necessary.  Candidates must be flexible and adaptable and must able to respond in a timely manner to rapidly changing conditions in the manufacturing environment with a good attitude and cooperative manner.
