Primary Function

Plan and direct manufacturing cost accounting activities to ensure the integrity and presentation of cost for manufactured products.  Apply principles of cost accounting to conduct studies that provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems and perform essential duties.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to execute successfully all aspects of Cost Accounting duties, including
    • Participate in new and existing product cost reviews in assisting in determining viability
    • Responsible for developing/reviewing and presenting new and/or updated standard costing rates (including labor and overhead) with periodic reviews
    • Manage annual and new product cost roll process
    • Analyze product cost and variances to standards in various areas of operations – Material (Including Freight/Tariffs) / Labor / Overhead
    • Responsible for the planning and forecasting of above variances on a monthly / qtrly / annual basis
    • Monitor / report inventory control and cycle count progress throughout the year and participate in the facilities’ Excess and Obsolescence process
    • Work with Purchasing, Production and Warehouse teams on inventory / cost / production-posting related issues
    • Monthly/annual inventory valuation reviews, reporting & balance forecasting
  • Responsible for driving and supporting projects to help improve performance and create accounting processes and accounting controls in a dynamic business environment as the business / responsibilities expand and new opportunities are created

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in the general month end close process
    • Prepare / review / post journal entries
    • Prepare account reconciliations for both balance sheet and P&L accounts as needed
    • Participate in the SBU financial reporting to Plant and Sr. Leadership
  • Lead the month end facility reporting to Plan and Sr. Leadership
  • Preparation of monthly, qtrly forecasts, annual plan and other financial analysis of Manufacturing activities as necessary
  • Coordinate responsible site work with internal and external auditors and all related follow ups as necessary
  • Provide cross-functional support and lead specific business initiatives/projects and to help ensure financial goals are met
  • Ability to successfully manage time, and prioritize as required based on current plant/business status

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience or training
  • Strength in cost accounting, variance analysis, forecasting and budgeting at the plant level
  • Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision and work in cross-functional / cross-site / cross-national teams
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and understanding of requirements for a publicly traded company
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with experience in SAP a plus
  • Strong sense of judgement, decision making and complex problem solving skills with a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to travel for periods of time up to 1 wk/time (typically 6-8x per year)
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and written, especially the ability to communicate financial information to a broad (non-finance background) group
  • Strong attention to detail and high organization skills
  • Strong business and financial acumen
