Primary Function

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will coordinate improvements and changes to the manufacturing processes and procedures in the plant.  The successful candidate will support and lead manufacturing, molding equipment specification, determining power requirements, process development, optimization of flow, machinery and equipment acquisition, continuous improvement and other duties associated with engineering support of production.

It is important that you understand plastics component assembly techniques, have a good general understanding of injection molding processes, equipment & part design, and emerging manufacturing technologies.

You will be skilled at optimizing line layouts, applying ergonomic design criteria, applying machine controls, and a variety of assembly methods.


  • Working closely with plant leadership developing automated assembly machine concepts for products.
  • Optimizing production equipment design requirements and creating specifications to best utilize space, reduce scrap, and improve manufacturing techniques to achieve customer goals.
  • Participating in cross functional product development teams in new product development requirements.
  • Specifying & designing manufacturing processes, new equipment, and leading fabrication.
  • Creating work instructions, setting time standards and validation of criteria.
  • Ensuring an effective transition of equipment manufacture and validation to production installation and certification.
  • Supporting manufacturing operations in the areas of process development, tool design, controls logic programming, equipment acquisition, manufacturing layout, and continuous improvement.
  • Providing direction and technical support in identifying continuous improvements to manufacturing operations and implementing new technologies.
  • Understanding of robots and automated equipment for manufacturing.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or related degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in automated injection molding manufacturing.
  • Able to troubleshoot different types of sensors, electrical motors, electrical switchgears, PLC, HMI, VFD, Servo drives and guiding rails.
  • Must be familiar with conveyor belts, and continuous process machines.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC/HMI/VFD programming desired.
  • Experience with lean tools, such as SMED, kaizen, etc.
  • Experience with developing and implementing successful solutions for complex manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in ISO9001.
  • Skilled in Project and Process management.
  • Proven experience in machine/ process design and development.
  • Able to read technical schematics and drawings
  • Familiar with CAD programs preferably Solidworks.
  • Experience in plastic part manufacture from injection molding through to assembly
  • SAP or similar ERP system experience a plus 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (ie. Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint,) and MS Project.
