Primary Function
Responsible for the safe output of quality cut-to-length steel. Maintain output to production standards while staying within acceptable scrap and rework standards. Work in a team oriented atmosphere with continuous improvement goals of achieving and maintaining a world-class production facility.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate the machines as required.
- Perform tooling changes, troubleshoot malfunctions, and perform maintenance tasks.
- Monitor machines’ output, using modern statistical process tools, to produce the sheets that are dimensionally correct and defect free.
- Perform machine operator preventative maintenance and lubrication per charts and schedules.
- Assist in training of assigned personnel as required.
- Packaging of finished goods.
- Maintain production supplies, pallets, gloves, etc.
- Maintain forklift certification.
- Perform receiving quality checks on inbound materials and apply modern statistical process controls to track supplier performance.
- Perform physical inventory, cycle counts, and computer related activities.
- Maintain work area in a safe and clean state.
- Apply Kanban First In – First Out principles and continuous improvement programs.
- Maintain work area in a safe and clean state.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Role Specific Responsibilities
Qualifications
- Previous work experience in metal fabrication desired, but not required.
- Participation in the cross-training programs established for this facility to enable continuous, uninterrupted production of quality material.
- Experience in a continuous improvement environment preferred.
