Primary Function

Based out of Lochinvar Headquarters in Lebanon, Tennessee, the Product Engineer serves as a key point of contact in solving the most critical problems in a time sensitive manner, and provides a high level of product support, while maintaining the integrity of our products. Provides engineering support as well as product enhancements, participates in cost reduction activities in agreement with the stated goals listed in the engineering department’s long-range plan.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing technical resolutions for existing products
  • Participate in both long and short term product maintenance projects, codes/ standards and general technical support to Manufacturing and Engineering
  • Provide detailed test programs and guidance to assigned lab and CAD personnel in the conductance and documentation of product specific test standards; evaluate data and make recommendations
  • Process Change Requests utilizing Lochinvar’s PLM system
  • Ensure item and bill of material attributes are accurate and maintained in PLM system
  • Understand and adhere to department policies and procedures for assigning material numbers, redlining bills of material, revising drawings and working change requests into change orders while utilizing Lochinvar’s PLM system
  • Perform design work for special jobs/job folders as presented by Sales and Marketing featuring existing units and components
  • Develop export product line using modified units from the current product line
  • Research, test and resolve product problems utilizing engineering and lab resources
  • Provide necessary product information, instructive drawings, and other support required for the quick, accurate and effective release of required Bills of Material, drawings and other release documentation
  • Work with vendors and potential vendors to obtain samples and specifications required for the investigation and release of components; work with Purchasing to set up new vendors when dictated by choice of new components
  • Participate in cost reduction activities and Field Evaluations
  • Provide technical assistance to Manufacturing and serve as a technical resource to all departments
  • Work with BOM personnel to verify correct part numbers and components
  • Evaluate and propose opportunities within the product engineering group to improve efficiency and accuracy of the services being provided
  • Work with Manufacturing and other departments to promote productivity and efficiency
  • Assist Quality Assurance with technical evaluations from field returns/problems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; BSME preferred
  • 1+ years of internship and/or work experience preferred
  • 1+ years of gas product development experience dealing with gas combustion and electronic applications preferred
  • Solidworks experience preferred; 3D CAD experience required
  • Must demonstrate good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; ability to work closely with a wide range of internal departments
