Primary Function

We have an immediate need for a Sr. Lab Technician- Electronic Controls in our Lebanon, TN facility. This position will be responsible for setting up, running and reporting on the in-house testing of microcontroller-based controls and electronic sub-assemblies used in boilers, water heaters, and heat pumps.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, run and report on testing of electronic controls and sub-assemblies
  • Assembly/modification of electronic controls and sub-assemblies
  • Assist engineers and technicians, as required, with development projects
  • Design and maintain laboratory equipment and test fixtures
  • Develop laboratory procedures and processes
  • Maintain levels of consumable parts and components used in the lab
  • Assist production staff to diagnose/resolve production issues as required
  • Read electronics schematics and identify component procedures
  • Solder and assemble printed circuit boards with surface-mount components
  • Diagnose faults, to board level, on analog and digital circuits

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering or Related Field with 5+ years of related work experience preferred. In lieu of degree will consider those with 7+ years of related work experience and High School Diploma or GED.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read electronics schematics and identify component procedures
  • Ability to use general electronics laboratory equipment and power tools, such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Ability to solder and assemble printed circuit boards with surface-mount components
  • Ability to diagnose faults, to board level, on analog and digital circuits
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to learn quickly
  • Experience with communications e.g. RS-485, Ethernet, Wi-Fi preferred
  • Experience with data acquisition software (LabView) a plus
  • Ability to analyze problems, present solutions, and make decisions
  • Experience with boiler, water heater, and heat pump products and control systems with a sound understanding of their applications strongly preferred

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • The employee must occasionally listen for noise produced by units and components.
