Primary Function

The Quality Engineer III is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned Quality functions. The incumbent will direct and plan the activities of development, application, and maintenance of quality standards and may supervise Quality Technicians within the department. 

Responsibilities

  • May supervise and coordinate work of Quality Technicians and/or other engineers on duty. 
  • Develop and coordinate written work instructions to ensure quality goals are attained. 
  • Utilize statistical tools to analyze manufacturing processes and reduce variation where needed. 
  • Implement and monitor internal quality controls and testing to meet quality procedures and norms. 
  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine the cause of quality problems and implement corrective 
  • and preventative actions to improve quality and minimize variability. 
  • Analyze data using computer data acquisition systems and generate reports for management. 
  • Review quality analysis conclusions and recommend necessary changes to quality procedures. 
  • Develop and assist in Process and Design FMEAs and Process Control Plans. 
  • Evaluate, implement, and validate quality processes within manufacturing to systematically. 
  • measure, compare, and monitor processes that provide a feedback loop and leads to error prevention. 
  • Coordinate and assist the Service Department in tracking field performance issues and customer claims. 
  • Develop and coordinate DOEs, process baselines, and Poke Yoke. 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Master's Degree preferred. 
  • 5+ years of experience with manufacturing, quality, and technical expertise
  • Trade Certification, such as Certified Quality Engineer, preferred. 
  • ASQ – CQE / CSQP or CQA preferred
  • Strong working knowledge and application of Quality processes, procedures, and tools (SPC, Six 
  • Sigma, Statistical Analysis) 
  • Expertise in discipline approaches to problem-solving such as 8D or 5P
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Proficiency with computers and programs, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Mini tab
