Production Supervisor

Job Summary

We are looking for a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor, reporting to the Area Production Manager and overseeing a group of approximately 5 Team Leaders and 35 Operators in a work area.  The ideal candidate will be interested in career advancement within A. O. Smith to roles of more responsibility in the future.

Responsibilities

• Leading their teams to meet targets for Daily Production, Quality, Labor Efficiency, and Adherence to the principles of the A. O. Smith Operating System.
• Interpreting and enforcing company policies and procedures.
• Becoming a Lean expert to drive Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing programs.
• Establishing a safe workplace through employee involvement.
• Investigate all injuries; provide support on implementation of suggested corrective procedures.
• Inspecting product to verify conformance to specifications; analyze all non conformances for root cause and implement corrective procedures.
• Recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product, driving participation in CI efforts on operator level.
• Responsible for completion and utilization of all reporting formats and paperwork.
• Maintaining inventory accuracy of raw materials in the area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Operations, Management, Business, or related field preferred (Associate's Degree required)
• 3+ years of Supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment required
• Proven ability to manage and develop staff and experience managing hourly staff in a a department with Presses, Dies, Machining, and Assembly Equipment, etc
• Demonstrated leadership as part of a cross-functional plant operations team.
• Strong analytic skills, with ability to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers.
• Strong planning, problem solving, organizational skills and strong influencing and communication skills with employees at all levels.
• High level of proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/MRP systems (such as SAP)
