Position Overview:

We have an immediate need for Welder II (1st Shift) for our McBee, SC facility.

Regularly Scheduled Hours:  1st Shift, Mon - Fri, 5:30 am - 2:30 pm with overtime as needed.

 

Hourly Rate of Pay:  $19.55/hour with evaluations every 90 days that can lead to pay increases

 

Sign on Bonus: $1500 ($500 after 3 months, $500 after 6 months, $500 after 12 months - must not be on a corrective action for attendance to qualify for bonus payments)

Responsibilities:

  • Operate automatic welding units by joining two pieces of material using resistance welding techniques;
  • Complete setup procedures and operate / changeover moderately complex equipment;
  • Operate automatic welding units by depositing metal from electrode to work piece and joining edges of work piece;
  • Use disc grinder to smooth out, weld, or grind parts prior to welding;
  • Maintain length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead;
  • Weld in flat and horizontal planes;
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications;
  • Repair weld defects;
  • Tack weld assemblies together;
  • Assemble component parts using hand and small power tools;
  • Obtain parts and materials needed to complete tasks;
  • Provide direction, training and/or guidance to new employees as required;
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and organized condition and follow prescribed safety rules and  quality requirements;
  • Store and properly identify finished units;
  • Fill out paperwork related to production activity as required;
  • Report problems with safety, quality, processes, equipment and materials to production lead or supervisor;
  • Wear required PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, welding PPE and any additional PPE required for task being performed);

 

Requirements:

  • GMAW training classes required (24 hours);
  • Hand ASME certification required (additional ones can be required depending on positions: girth/long seam/robot/circle);
  • GTAW Carbon Steel to Carbon certification within 90 days of start of assigned training;
  • Ability to use visual/destructive testing to determine quality of resistance welds;
  • Ability to understand and follow standard work and work instructions;
  • Ability to perform repetitive work while paying attention to the detail and quality of work performed;
  • Knowledge and skills to operate all required machines;
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred;
  • Willingness to learn new tasks, cross-train, rotate and work as a part of a team;
  • Willingness to work overtime as required depending on business need;
  • Ability to train as a back-up for other team members to cover absenteeism, vacations and mandatory rotations of responsibility;
  • Ability to follow all safety and quality policies and procedures
