Overview

A. O. Smith Corporation, a global leader in residential and commercial water heating, as well as a manufacturer of water treatment products, is in search of a Communications Supervisor who will manage internal communications and day-to-day operations of the company’s digital communication properties. This individual will develop and drive the company’s internal communications strategy and manage day-to-day communications to internal audiences around the globe. A. O. Scope of Responsibility
  • Under the lead of the director of corporate communications, develop communications plans and strategies to support the company’s business objectives
  • Create content based on the needs of the business. Determine and utilize best communications channels for deployment.
  • Manage content for A. O. Smith’s internal and external digital properties.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, such as human resources and operations, to best support the needs and future growth of the business.  Manage internal events and programs that engage, align and inspire employees worldwide.
Responsibilities

 

1. Corporate Communications

  • Develop strategic plans and messaging for internal communications.
  • Work with director of corporate communications to ensure internal messaging and deployment timing is in sync with external messaging.
  • Assist with external messaging creation and deployment, as needed.

 

2. Employee Events, Internal Awards and Employee Recognition Programs

  • Organize and manage events and related content, including speaker messaging, event/program logistics, webinars, etc.

 

3. Digital

  • Manage and create content for the company’s digital properties, including AOS’ intranet site, AOSmith.com and AOS’ social channels.
  • Manage external vendors and content providers.

 

4. Corporate Communications Intern Program

  • Maintain responsibility for the Corporate Communications Intern Program, including the selection of interns, their day-to-day workload and the overall quality of their output.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or other related field
  • 5+ years communications experience.  Experience in the manufacturing sector is a plus
  • Experience utilizing, managing and optimizing digital communications tools, including - but not limited to - intranet, survey tools, etc.
  • Proficient with Word, PowerPoint, and graphics software such as Photoshop and PowerPoint
  • Limited travel is required
Additional Qualifications/Skills
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Able to manage a large number of projects and prioritize demands
  • Able to work effectively with all levels of the organization from shop floor to executive and across all business units
  • Must be self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Video production knowledge / experience is a plus
