Primary Function
The incumbent performs testing procedures on various types of equipment. This person also documents testing process and reports results.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of alternative filters for water treatment.
- Run and analyze experiments to test filters and systems.
- Water sample preparation and analysis of various inorganic and organic contaminants.
- Biological sample propagation, plating and counting.
- Draw samples of water for laboratory analysis, adjust chemical doses and record actions.
- Provide technical assistance on filtration and related process issues when requested.
- Write reports as necessary to update personnel on equipment, laboratory, or project status.
- Inventory, order, store, and distribute material, laboratory supplies, and equipment spare parts.
- Evaluates contents of laboratory inventory and determines the need for additions or deletions.
- Monitor system operations to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and standard compliance
- Keeping abreast of analytical methods to measure and test water treatment devices.
Role Specific Responsibilities
Qualifications
Successful candidates should have the following qualifications:
- A bachelor of science degree in chemistry or biology preferred, or a 2 year degree with previous water lab experience accepted.
- Demonstrate knowledge of how to use hand tools, power tools, and test equipment used in the area
- Conscientious & dependable, with the ability to work on small teams as well as independently
- Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations and chemical analysis
- Ability to recognize normal and abnormal conditions of test systems and filters
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with personal computers (Windows 2007) and MS Office Products (Word, Excel, etc)
