This role is located in our modern Nashville Metro Center office, located just minutes from downtown with easy interstate access and free parking.

This role is eligible for a remote work schedule of up to two days remote work per week. New employees are eligible to apply after successfully completing their initial 90 days of employment and training.

Primary Function

This position will design, maintain, configure, and support infrastructure systems including cloud and on premises systems, including front-end platforms, servers, storage, and management networks.  The Sr. Systems Engineer M365 and Active Directory will be responsible for the design, support, maintenance, configuration, backup, and reliable operation of the A. O. Smith M365, Azure Cloud, and our on-premises server environment while also actively working on projects to enhance the security and supportability of these environments.  The Sr. Systems Engineer M365 and Active Directory will also work proactively to secure the environment, highlight potential problems, and devise processes and procedures to prevent downtime.  

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an escalation point for resolving service impacting issues.
  • Support and monitor the enterprise environment, resolve issues, and identify improvement opportunities
  • Perform proactive system monitoring
  • Design and develop PowerShell scripts to automate management tasks
  • Develop and maintain system documentation
  • Support and monitor A.O. Smith’s cloud footprint
  • Perform regular capacity planning and usage trending
  • Perform regular system security reviews

  • Hybrid Active Directory Environment with Exchange
    • Exchange Administration
      • Exchange Online
      • Exchange On-Premises 2010 / 2013 / 2016
    • Active Directory Administration
      • Must be able to manage user accounts, groups, and permissions, and troubleshoot issues related to AD / Azure AD.
      • Design and implement Active Directory changes and additions
  • Microsoft 365 and Azure Administration
    • Microsoft Groups / Teams Administration and Governance
    • Microsoft SharePoint Administration and Governance
    • Microsoft Azure Administration
    • License monitoring
    • Backup M365 environment
  • Public DNS Administration
    • Purchase / renew public domain names
    • Maintain public DNS records
  • Purchase / Renew and install certificates from public Certificate Authority
  • Work with business and IT teams to build and support solutions that are secure, scalable, reusable, and quick to market
  • Work with internal information security to continually enhance and improve our security posture
  • Provide technical guidance, assistance and mentorship to other System Engineers and System Administrators

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information systems, computer science, or related field, or equivalent experience and certifications
  • Exceptional problem solving, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to grasp new technologies
  • At least 7 years of Exchange / M365 / Azure AD / Azure experience in an enterprise environment
  • Knowledge of IT security principles
  • Ability to collaborate across teams from either the business or information technology
  • General knowledge of vendor management
  • Heavy PowerShell experience in both Active Directory, Exchange, and SharePoint

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Expert-level knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, PKI, DNS, and DFS a plus
  • Experience with Avepoint Online Services, ShareGate, Commvault Metallic, and CoreView a plus.
  • Must be able to handle a wide work variety and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • ITIL certification / ITSM Experience is preferred
  • VMWare / Windows / Azure certification(s) are desirable
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and employees.
  • Ability to work with a globally dispersed team
