What You Will Do

The Technical Writer will be responsible for producing high-quality technical documentation and maintaining the accuracy of existing manuals across a vast library of product models and parts. The position will also develop support documentation to enable customers to use products safely and effectively, provide proper ordering details, and communicate any product changes necessary to our internal teams and customers. The position will work closely with the Technical Services, Customer Services, Production Managers, Global Purchasing, and Sales management teams across multiple facilities.

What You Will Be Responsible For

  • Create and maintain a complex network of mutli-paged documents that serve as Owner’s Manuals for the products manufactured by our facility and designated sister companies
  • Develop the Advanced Programming Guides that are distributed to support the technicians that install and service our products
  • Create line drawings, diagrams, and reference photos as needed to provide quick and easy understanding to the end readers
  • Manage the creation and updating of product pricing catalogs and parts pricing lists
  • Work with the internal Technical Services team to understand commonly faced issues and draft field instructions to easily work through those challenges
  • Create Technical Bulletins that outline engineering or manufacturing changes to our products
  • Write letters and other mass communications to our customers that relate to announcing technical or operational changes
  • Create operational job instructions and “quick reference guides” for duties throughout the manufacturing and office facilities
  • Ensure all documents in your area show adequate and accurate certification standards as needed
  • Update appropriate product brand websites whenever manual revisions are completed to ensure online resources are current at all times
  • Work with on-site manual printing team and outside vendors to update their reference files to ensure the latest revisions are being used in the production facilities
  • Coordinate updates and document changes with vendors that provide white-labeled manuals for products they manufacturer on our behalf
  • Have working knowledge of business operations software to be able to create new part numbers, modify existing part numbers, and manage document tracking for the manuals included in product builds

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Emphasis on English Composition, preferred), or Associate’s Degree with emphasis on Professional Writing with equivalent experience
  • 2+ years professional experience in page layout and writing
  • Excels at working with subject-matter experts to gather information, identify relevant data and audiences, and write documents that are clear and user friendly 
  • Aptitude for understanding technical concepts
  • Must have strong computer skills with experience working on the Windows platform, utilizing Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, and other Adobe Creative Cloud design programs
