2nd Shift Production Supervisor - Press Shop

Primary Function

Responsible for the efficient operation of press shop, the direction of the plant work force and the meeting of daily production schedules. The press shop supervisor coordinates activities of the team leaders and workers and verifies correct manufacturing processes are adhered to. Works with the operators, engineers and quality personnel to identify and resolve potential customer issues.

Responsibilities

  • Will supervise up to 60 hourly employees, including hourly team leads.
  • Ensure team members are following standardized work instructions and adhering to quality expectations.
  • Partner with industrial engineers and supervisors to contribute to and maintain continuous improvement of the production line
  • Must have the flexibility to come in early and stay late based on production needs, meetings, and training classes.
  • Ability to learn the contents of the workstations and needs of its team members.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly audits and reporting discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Make assessments of the sequencing of components through the verification process.
  • Determine work responsibilities in the cell and delegate accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Lean or continuous improvement experience a plus
  • SAP or some other enterprise resource planning system experience highly desirable.
  • 2 to 5 years experience in a fast paced production environment
  • At least 3 years of supervisory/leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong leadership skills and an understanding of the basic principles of human resources and the manufacturing process.   
  • The ability to make decisions on independent basis and follow policies and procedures. 
  • Excellent communication skills via written and oral
