Engineering Technician

Primary Function

Provide support and input to Engineering team in the evaluation, development and maintenance of products.  Assist Engineering team to develop and test machinery and equipment by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate / support installation of new equipment and systems.
  2. Set up, assist and test units per diagrams and instructions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors and to obtain data for development, standardization and quality assurance.
  3. Travel as necessary for training and trials.
  4. Build prototypes and test equipment per drawings.
  5. Lead improvements for and troubleshoot equipment
  6. Responsible for safe practices and professional appearance of the work area.
  7. Lead improvements for assembly line production to increase productivity.
  8. Maintain and present PPM reports.
  9. Provide guidance and instruction to other lab techs as needed.
  10. Conduct time studies for assembly lines for Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  11. Collect and analyze data from SCADA production system..
  12. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

  • Basic mechanical skills for hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • A two year technical degree, 4 year degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of related experience.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Has the ability to budget time and set deadlines for him/herself and demonstrates this ability on a daily basis
  • Can analyze problems, present solutions and implements decisions
  • Easily recognizes when parameters are wrong, indicating that a unit is not functioning properly
  • Understands what data needs to be collected, how that data is to be collected, and uses the proper forms for logging the required data.  Understands what the data being recorded means to the performance of the unit under test

Years of Experience

Minimum of 1 year related work experience

Education

High School Diploma or GED
Associate Degree in Industrial Engineering or Related Field

Physical Requirements

  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toe shoes/boots, ear and eye protection.  
  • Prolonged periods of sitting/standing and frequent bending and reaching.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
