Primary Function

The incumbent will be responsible for providing medical aid to employees and other personnel who become ill or are injured while on company property.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to the scene of medical emergencies and administers first-aid or medical care.
  • Advises injured personnel concerning additional medical treatment and accompanies the injured to a hospital or physicians office where appropriate
  • Examines and advises personnel who become ill and dispenses medications as needed
  • Maintains adequate inventory of appropriate medical supplies and takes actions to obtain new or replace old medical emergency equipment.
  • Prepares accident reports in coordination with the concerned supervisor or manager and maintains records of all personnel treated.
  • Prepares reports regarding workers compensation and maintains OSHA records concerning reportable illnesses and injuries.
  • Assist with 2nd shift health and safety investigations

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • 3+ years of related work experience or training
  • Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee nursing license
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED Certified
  • Must have the ability to work independently with little oversight
  • Workers compensation and claims management experience highly desirable.
  • Ability to maintain schedules and patients flow.
  • Able to remain composed, think clearly, and react effectively in medical emergency situations.
  • Good program-administrator skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to maintain schedules and patient flow.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
  • Ability and willingness to adhere to the established departmental service standards.
