Primary Function

The Plant Engineering & Facilities Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance, facilities, engineering, reliability, and capital project activities within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role ensures the reliability, efficiency, and safety of production equipment and facility infrastructure while supporting operational excellence, cost management, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader with a strong technical background, proven leadership experience, and a track record of delivering measurable improvements in equipment reliability, facility performance, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

  • Provide leadership for all maintenance and reliability activities across the facility.
  • Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and asset life.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, controls, and automation systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, improving equipment performance, and increasing maintenance effectiveness.
  • Utilize CMMS systems to manage work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, asset histories, and maintenance planning activities.

Manufacturing Equipment Oversight

Manage the performance, maintenance, and reliability of critical production equipment, including:

  • CNC machines
  • Welding equipment
  • Presses
  • Conveyors
  • Robotics and automation systems
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Motors and drives
  • Electrical distribution systems
  • PLCs and controls systems

Facilities Management

Oversee facility infrastructure and utilities, including:

  • Electrical distribution systems
  • HVAC systems
  • Compressed air systems
  • Boilers and chillers
  • Water and wastewater systems
  • Fire protection systems
  • Building infrastructure and utilities
  • Facility renovations, expansions, and upgrades

Capital Projects

  • Lead capital improvement projects from planning through execution.
  • Manage equipment installations, facility expansions, infrastructure upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
  • Coordinate internal resources, contractors, and vendors to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Develop business cases and return-on-investment justifications for capital expenditures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and extensive manufacturing experience will be considered.

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment.
  • Demonstrated career progression through increasing levels of responsibility, such as:
    • Maintenance Technician
    • Maintenance Supervisor
    • Maintenance Manager
    • Facilities Manager
    • Plant Engineering Leader
  • Proven experience managing both manufacturing equipment and facility infrastructure.
  • Strong industrial maintenance background including preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, reliability, and maintenance planning.
  • Experience leading maintenance, facilities, engineering, and technical teams.
  • Significant experience managing capital projects and facility improvements.
  • Experience administering CMMS platforms and maintenance systems.

Technical Knowledge

Strong working knowledge of:

  • Industrial electrical systems
  • Mechanical systems
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • PLCs, controls, and automation
  • Facility utility systems
  • Reliability-centered maintenance practices
  • Manufacturing operations and support systems
