Regularly Scheduled Hours:

  • Night Shift Opening - 7 pm to 7:30 am -  Two Week Cycles (Continental) - 2 on / 2 off / 3 on / 2 off / 2 on / 3 off

Hourly Rate of Pay: Depends on experience in Maintenance

Sign On Bonus Opportunity:  $1500 ($500 after 3 months, $500 after 6 months, $500 after 12 months - must not be on a corrective action for attendance)

Primary Function

Ashland City is home to A. O. Smith’s largest water heating manufacturing facility in the United States and manufactures over two million residential water heaters every year.   The MultiCraft Maintenance Technician (Overnight Shift) is responsible for repairing and installing production/manufacturing equipment. Inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications. Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and makes repairs or adjustments as needed

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical and building components on industrial equipment plant wide and have basic knowledge of PLC’s and controls.  
  • Performs multi-craft tasks on all equipment and repair equipment breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the safe output of quality cut-to-length steel. 
  • Maintain output to production standards while staying within acceptable scrap and rework standards. 
  • Work in a team oriented atmosphere with continuous improvement goals of achieving and maintaining a world-class production facility.
  • This position requires continuous work near heat, noise, gas, and chemicals.
  • The position requires frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending and kneeling.
  • The position may require weekend and/or holiday work

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Required, Trade School Degree Preferred
  • Knowledge of machine functions, equipment safety hazards, power source, stored energy, pinch points, etc.
  • Must be proficient in hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, electrical and building maintenance tasks.
  • Must also have a basic working knowledge of PLC’s and electrical controls and the ability to troubleshoot and repair as needed.

High School Diploma or GED
Trade School Degree

Physical Requirements

  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toe shoes/boots, ear and eye protection.  
  • Prolonged periods of sitting/standing and frequent bending and reaching.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and with assistance
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
