Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Primary Function

This is a 2nd shift opening in our fabrication department.  The supervisor will be responsible for the efficient operation of the manufacturing department, the direction of the plant work force and the meeting of daily production schedules.  Will supervise and coordinate the activities of the shift leaders and workers. Verifies correct manufacturing processes are adhered to. Works with other operators, engineers and quality personnel to identify and resolve potential customer issues. 

Responsibilities

  • Ability to supervise a team of 50-60 hourly employees, including hourly team leads.
  • Ensure team members are following standardized work instructions with an eye for understanding the quality expectations.
  • Contribute towards continuous improvement of the production line by working with the Industrial Engineers and Supervisors.
  • Able to work varied hours including coming in early and staying late based on production needs, meetings, and training classes.
  • Ability to learn the contents of the workstations and needs of its team members.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly audits and reporting discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Understand and complete daily documents.
  • Make assessments of the sequencing of components through the verification process.
  • Ability to determine the work that needs to be done in the cell and delegate accordingly.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Lean or continuous improvement experience a plus
  • SAP or some other enterprise resource planning system experience highly desirable.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in a fast paced production environment
  • At least 3 years of supervisory/leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong leadership skills and an understanding of the basic principles of human resources and the manufacturing process.   
  • The ability to make decisions on independent basis and follow policies and procedures. 
  • Excellent communication skills via written and oral
