Primary Function

A. O. Smith is seeking an individual to lead our daily retail marketing efforts for the A. O. Smith Signature, Reliance and other retail brands. Successful candidate will work to ensure that our marketing programs are being effectively designed and implemented in the marketplace for retailers including Lowes, Ace Hardware, True Value and more.

Responsibility includes helping plan, develop and execute retail marketing initiatives that support the sale of water heating products. This individual also owns key tactical efforts within the retail channel. He/she will be responsible for managing both off and online retail channels through all points including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer information, design, advertising, promotion, packaging, point of sale, customer experience, and quality control. Additional goals include ability to meet key annual deliverables aligned with our overall corporate strategy.  Ability to work with product management team to deliver products that meet channel needs.  

This position will report to the Senior Manager of Channel Marketing. Successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with an array of marketing staff from entry level personnel up to the Vice President of Marketing, as well as other functional areas on a daily basis.

 

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and improve existing channel marketing strategies that meets or exceeds a retailers’ specific requirements from start to finish through streamlined timelines and deadlines 
  • Project manage all workstreams of implementation to launch retail products on time; including packaging, collateral, sales training, online merchandising, point of sale, customer experience, quality control, and retailer marketing programs
  • Manage the dot.com retailer marketplaces, providing high quality product detail content, manage daily ad spend and ad effectiveness/ROI as well as promotional strategies
  • Work with program manager and other project partners to clearly communicate tasks, dependencies, timeliness, executive summaries, and risk/mitigation plans to ensure lasting, overall performance
  • Develop and manage all aspects of the budget, working closely with finance to track p/l. Course correcting when needed to achieve profitability timelines
  • Collaborate with Brand & Digital Marketing teams on all marketing customer experience touch points including POS, merchandising, packaging, and online experience to ensure brand consistency
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications, Brand team & outside vendors to develop & implement communications plans to meet business objectives including PR, social and influencer campaigns
  • Collaborate with retailers to evaluate & scope annual advertising and co-marketing campaigns
  • Collaborate with Project Manager to coordinate trade show & customer events
  • Interface with 3rd party vendors (photographers, POS, printers) to set scope, manage budget, project deliverables, quality and timeline
  • Scope, recommend and collaborate with Training team to implement sales training for retailers
  • Analyzing market data, trends, preferences, and competitor behavior to optimize marketing strategies.
  • Participate in the communication process for new products as they enter the market.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years previous marketing experience.
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to think strategically and creatively.  
  • Experience developing and implementing traditional and digital marketing efforts.
  • Experience in the retail marketplace, plumbing &/or water heater industry is a plus.
  • Well organized and detailed oriented – precision and accuracy are critical.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks.
  • Must be resourceful, team-oriented and have strong problem-solving skills
  • Proactive – ability to acquire information from various resources.
  • Presentation ability to all audiences including customers & employees at all organizational levels.
  • Strong computer skills and Microsoft Office competency, particularly Excel & PowerPoint.
