Primary Function
Are you a highly skilled and proactive Welding Technician with a strong focus on equipment reliability and continuous improvement? This critical role involves maintaining operational efficiency by performing mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting advanced welding and robotic equipment, and ensuring all processes meet rigorous quality standards.
You will be a key contributor, working closely with Engineering, Production, and Maintenance teams to uphold the highest levels of safety and equipment uptime. Responsibilities

Equipment Support & Troubleshooting: Support production by providing timely troubleshooting and maintenance for a variety of welding equipment, including:

Resistance projection welders
-
Robotic welding cells
-
Manual welding booths
-
Resistance mash seam welders
-

Robotic Maintenance & Repair: Mechanically and electrically rebuild, repair, and maintain Fanuc 6-axis robots.

This includes replacing motors, gearboxes, internal cables, and end effectors; performing greasing; and mastering/re-mastering robot groups.

Install and calibrate servo robot vision systems and teach coordinated motion.

Welding Process Management: Analyze and inspect welds, adjusting equipment settings to meet production and quality requirements/standards.

Modify and document program changes for welding equipment within accepted ranges.

Adjust and calibrate Servo Robot laser tracking software.

Replace and rebuild GMAW peripheral equipment.

System and Documentation: Maintain detailed records of work and tasks using SAP Work Orders.

Safety & Collaboration: Report equipment status and maintenance needs to leadership. Uphold all safety protocols, especially NFPA-70E and OSHA standards.

Training: Perform shop (on-the-job) and lab training for operators on various equipment and processes.
Qualifications
-
High School Diploma or GED.
-
Completion of a TCAT or similar technical program with an emphasis on robotics is highly preferred.

3+ years of related work experience working on a production floor.

3+ years of related work experience with Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW).

3+ years of related experience repairing 6-axis robots (mechanical and electrical troubleshooting).
Technical Skills
-
Welding Systems Expertise: Strong knowledge of set-ups, changeovers, and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting for the supported welding equipment (listed above).

Robotics/Controls:
-
Expertise in Fanuc I/O: Ability to read, configure, set up, and manipulate (forcing) I/O.

Ability to teach tool center points (TCP) and install/calibrate vision systems.

Compliance: Must possess OSHA-10 Certification and NFPA-70E training.
Core Competencies

Excellent communication (verbal & written) and organizational skills.

Proficiency in managing Microsoft Outlook Mail & Calendar for timely and prepared responses.

Strong mechanical aptitude and a proactive approach to equipment reliability.
Education
Physical Requirements
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toe shoes/boots, ear and eye protection.
- Prolonged periods of sitting/standing and frequent bending and reaching.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds overhead and maneuver various parts weighting up to 50 lbs.
