Primary Function
The Commercial Finance Manager is responsible for supporting the strategic direction of the Commercial organization and overseeing operational financial activities. Provide financial leadership in the development and implementation of business strategies, objectives and operating plans to ensure fiscal soundness and operational effectiveness. The Manager of Commercial Finance will work closely with and become the advisor to senior management.The Commercial Finance Manager is responsible for supporting the strategic direction of the Commercial organization and overseeing operational financial activities. Responsibilities
- Lead forecasting and strategic/annual plan process for sales organization and cost centers, including review and submission of forecast and annual operating plan into our consolidating system.
- Lead and drive the financial reporting and analysis function for the commercial organization, including sales, profit margins and selling and administrative expense.
- Oversee accounting close process for expense and gross to net, including review of various accruals/ journal entries, reporting of actual results to internal stakeholders.
- Responsible for producing and analyzing financial data for the business, including variance analysis to budget and prior year.
- Support the commercial leaders in decision making process using financial data and analytics to support position
- Ability to effectively partner and communicate with commercial leaders, ROI analysis, pricing principles, understanding of route to market and managing customer terms and relationships.
- Calculation of year over year price earned on customers and products.
- Responsible for review of processing of rebates and account deductions.
- Continually evaluate the departmental functions, practices, and controls to identify opportunity for improvement.
- Ensure consistent, reliable, and timely information is distributed to all financial statement users.
- Directly supervise and manage employees in the accounting function by directing, allocating, and assigning priority to functions and projects.
- Conduct staff performance appraisals, provide guidance, and train direct subordinates.
- Prepare and post journal entries for more complex areas.
- Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of all accounting policies, financial systems, processes, and controls.
- Continually evaluate the departmental functions, practices, and controls to identify opportunity for improvement.
- Perform other activities as needed or as directed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Master’s degree in accounting or CPA strongly preferred
- 7+ years of accounting experience, including supervisory experience
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Strong ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision and work in cross-functional teams.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley rules and regulations
- SAP/BPC experience is beneficial
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong analytical skills are required
- Ability to work independently and lead a team to achieve performance goals
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and delegate tasks
- Strong sense of judgment, decision making, and complex problem solving.
- Strong communication skills, both orally and written, especially communication of financial results and information
- Strong attention to detail and high organization skills
- Strong business and financial acumen
