Primary Function

APCOM's climate controlled facility in Franklin, Tennessee, manufactures electric thermostats, pipe nipples, dip tubes, elements, and burner assemblies.   The Controls Technician (2nd shift) installs and maintains the computer-controlled systems and robotic devices used within industrial and manufacturing facilities to reduce human intervention and maximize efficiency.  In addition, the Controls Technician supports engineering functions by assisting in the design, programming and implementation of manufacturing equipment and processes.

Regularly Scheduled Hours: Monday through Friday: 1:00pm - 9:30pm

Hourly Rate of Pay:  $38.55/hr ($37.55/hr + $1.00/hr shift premium for hours worked = $38.55/hr)

Sign On Bonus Opportunity:  $1500 ($500 after 3 months, $500 after 6 months, $500 after 12 months - must not be on a corrective action for attendance)

Responsibilities

  • Duties require knowledge of electronics, mechanics and computers
  • Collaborates with controls and mechanical engineers to perform routine diagnostic checks on automated systems, monitor automated systems, isolate problems and perform repairs.
  • Communicate with controls and mechanical engineers in the design and service of control systems ranging from electromechanical devices and systems to high-speed robotics and PLCs
  • Consults with supervisors, product engineering, maintenance operators and other associates regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Utilizes processes information, such as KPI’s, to monitor and implement improvements to processes and equipment.
  • Must be proficient in connecting to, communicating with, and general use of various PLC platforms
  • The position may require overtime, weekend and/or holiday work.
  • Takes “On-Call” duties as scheduled

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Electronic, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field and/or experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail Oriented
  • Strong Computer Skills such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel. Power Point, SAP and others
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of CAD is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret PLC programs, A-B Studio 5000, Siemens and Beckhoff controls systems
  • SAP exp
  • Experience with Keyence Laser systems
  • Experience with motion controls and drives
  • Experience with Cognex, Keyence vision system
  • Experience with Fanuc Robot controls
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and cad drawings
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a high demand and dynamic environment
