Primary Function
The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining quality systems, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting production teams with problem-solving and root cause analysis.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with ISO standards to advance quality to a world-class level.
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions (CAPA) for customer complaints, nonconformances and internal quality issues.
- Lead PPAP, FMEA, control plans, capability studies and other quality tools in alignment with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Own responsibility for real-time troubleshooting of quality concerns on the manufacturing floor and driving rapid countermeasures and sustainment.
- Perform inspections and audits of raw materials, in-process production and finished goods to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Collaborate with design, engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure product quality during new product development and process changes.
- Manage calibration and maintenance of measurement and test equipment.
- Deploy and maintain Statistical Process Control of critical dimensions to apply advanced statistical methods to improve quality of processes and products.
- Train production and support staff in quality procedures and standards.
- Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce defects, improve efficiency and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (plastic injection molding or water treatment industry preferred).
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, quality systems and manufacturing best practices.
- Hands-on experience with PPAP, FMEA, SPC, root cause analysis and CAPA.
- Proficiency with measurement systems, gages, CMMs and other quality tools.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence improvements.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
