Primary Function

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will implement, oversee, and adapt policies and programs to improve the organization's environmental and safety performance, ensure it complies with current and future regulations and standards, and protect its reputation. This position is responsible for providing leadership by developing strategies for effective environmental, health, safety and security programs for the facility.

Role Specific Responsibilities
  • This position is responsible for providing leadership by developing strategies for effective environmental, health, safety and security programs.
  • Will design, develop, implement and oversee the organization's EHS programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and to ensure that all facilities are in compliance with regulations.
  • Manage all federal, state, and local environmental programs (Air, SPCC, Storm Water, etc.) and permits and ensure compliance. Acts as company representative with government agencies in all EHS matters affecting the company.
  • Responsible for influencing site leadership to improve EHS management and performance in their areas of responsibility. Responsible for driving continuous improvement of EHS performance.
  • Direct supervision of all Safety, Environmental and security employees to include contract personnel. Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop this team.
  • Guide incident review process and perform incident trend analysis for hazard prevention and control.
  • Direct management of any workers’ compensation claims.
  • Identify safety improvement projects on the production floor and coordinate cross functional resources to complete projects and mitigate risks. Utilize the Safety Committee where feasible to complete projects and mitigate risks.
  • Establish facility EH&S goals and metrics
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is required
  • We also require at least 5 years of related work experience
  • The ideal candidate will be adept at leading and inspiring a team to meet objectives; at least 6 years of supervisory/leadership experience is preferred
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Prior working knowledge of and experience with ISO standard 14001 and ISO 45001 is preferred
  • Prior experience in a union environment is also preferred
  • Must have extensive experience in OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and compliance
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Strong presentation skills are required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and other business software applications is required
  • The ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality is required
