Primary Function

The Project Engineer I is responsible for assisting in completion and monitoring all aspects of basic project assignments and using the assigned project management system as a guide to achieve the project objectives. The incumbent will work with a small team in the planning, organization, implementation, and completion of project assignments.


  • Implement and monitor basic project development including mechanical and manufacturing aspects of project design by translating customer requirements into practical terms.
  • Maintain a current and up-to-date written description of the project as defined and updated.
  • Assist in evaluating business and facility strategies to maintain product line viability and growth.
  • Participate in Project Identification meetings with marketing and management to outline the specifications and scope of the assigned project.
  • Monitor engineering programs using the Project Management System.
  • Liaise with all department contacts to gain insight, advice, and to communicate project activity and progress, including scheduled project reviews and reports.
  • Work with a team of support staff (including technicians and/or other engineers) as required for project completion.
  • Perform activities to resolve technical developments, scheduling issues, and design test problems as they arise.
  • Perform other activities as needed or as directed. 


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 1+ years related work experience
  • High mathematical, analytical, and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical reports
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and written, to communicate with all levels, including senior management
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Office
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data
  • High organizational and time management skills
