Primary Function

We are looking for a Product Engineer - Control Applications to join our NPD Engineering team responsible for the following residential water heater products - gas tankless, electric tankless, electric tank, and heat pump.   This role will work with both domestic and international engineering teams to design controls for these products.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for engineering assignments requiring a broad knowledge of an engineering specialty.
  • Assists with development of control specifications.
  • Supports engineering functions for a product or a product family from design through production.    
  • Testing control systems. 
  • Experimenting with new control systems and supporting components.
  • Documenting testing and generating reports. 
  • Creation of schematics and wiring diagrams. 
  • User of CAE tools such as Altium, Pads, MATLAB, LabView, FEA.  
  • Develops and applies engineering standards and procedures, and provides advice on issues within the engineering field. 
  • Provides occasional support to manufacturing and acquires comfortable familiarity with manufacturing operations. 
  • Plans, conducts and coordinates engineering assignments, normally involving several smaller and less important projects or one major project.  
  • Participates in planning objectives and in brainstorming activities for specific needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of related work experience
  • 10% travel; may include domestic and international in-person travel, as well as virtual domestic and international meetings
  • Good written and oral communication skills. 
  • Communicates with other engineering functions including design, process, production, quality, and reliability. 
  • Basic understanding of computer programming languages 
  • Has a fundamental understanding of problem solving, troubleshooting and root cause analysis. 
  • Familiarity with basic test instrumentation (multimeters, oscilloscopes etc.). 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc
