Primary Function

Responsible for evaluating weld seams, material, and performing capability analysis to ensure production requirements are met. Work with engineering, production and A.O. Smith Global team as directed for support. Analyze field returns and perform reports as directed. Work to ensure the company’s mission of continuous improvement is being met (i.e: capability studies, trial runs, runoffs, DOE testing, sample analysis)

Responsibilities

  • Support Production and Engineering for measurements and forms of analysis.
  • Perform capability studies regularly per Quality Engineer’s direction.
  • Perform testing and tear downs as required for field return units.
  • Support A.O. Smith Global for analysis and testing as requested.
  • Prepare written test reports and/or data for submission to direct supervision/management.
  • Technician will be responsible for conducting and reporting pulsation sampling tests in a timely manner.
  • Weekly pulsation and process audits as directed.
  • Responsible for all quarterly sample foam testing for all of NAWH facilities.
  • Responsible for maintaining work instructions in ETQ and all other documentation pertaining to job duties.
  • Must keep data up to date on a daily basis.
  • Assist with training Auditors, CAB’s, and QCI’s in Tank department.
  • Responsible for maintaining and performing all required metallurgical processes in the lab.
  • Must keep metallurgical, PAL, and pulsation lab maintained per 5S standards.
  • Expected to provide coverage for Receiving Inspection and Assembly Production as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Certification in ASQ preferred (i.e: CQT)
  • 3+ years of related work experience or training 
  • Thorough knowledge of measurement tools (pi tape, measuring tape, height gauge, calipers). FARO Arm is  preferred, but not required
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Metallurgical experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills.
  • Software skills: Microsoft Office.. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook. Minitab and SAP is a plus.
