Primary Function

Lochinvar in Lebanon, TN- a business unit of A.O. Smith.

Prepares pressure vessel materials for assembly through the set-up and operation of fabrication, coating, packaging, and foaming equipment.  Assembles and completes water heater and storage tanks.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for mixing and checking the paint to the proper mixture per set standard, thinners, and other rust inhibitive coating materials for use in paint spraying equipment

    2. Responsible for TPM of equipment assembler is trained for.  

    3. Operates variety of saws and other cutting equipment to cut structural steel to proper length according to print or other specifications; operates drill press; checks work using tape measure or other measuring devices. 

    4. Assembles and/or attaches elements, gauges, pipes, installs fiberglass, wiring, sheet metal, control panels, solders copper pipe, uses Tig welder, etc according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints, and work instructions.  Cuts probe holes for wiring and performs routing of electrical wiring of control panels per the wiring diagram. 

    5. Prepares tanks, tank parts, and water heater jackets for painting or applying rust inhibitive coating through the set-up and operation of equipment.  Responsible for mixing and checking the paint to the proper mixture per set standard, thinners, and other rust inhibitive coating materials for use in paint spraying equipment.  Responsible for removing, disposing of and replacing filters in paint booths, as required.  Checks general operation and condition including filters and manometer readings. 

     

     

Qualifications

    1. Education: High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent 
    2. Experience: Manufacturing experience required
    3. Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge and navigation is required.
    4. Must be able to acquire Forklift certification once hired

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting/standing and frequent bending and reaching.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and with assistance
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toe shoes/boots, ear and eye protection.  
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell.
  • Use of wrenching, impacting, and/or vibrating tools (manual and automatic) is required occasionally for extended periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
