Primary Function

To plan and direct the accomplishment of product engineering objectives. To provide technical guidance and ensure sound engineering procedures and effective use of facilities. Develop processes to meet business requirements. Understands balance between short-term support and long-term strategic growth and prioritizes projects to meet both.  Provides leadership to personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Sets departmental strategy based on inputs from business and functional strategy and develops an execution plan for this strategy.
  • Assesses future resource needs (people, equipment, and facilities) of the organization and develops and executes plan to obtain needed resources.
  • Assess current organization skills and capabilities and determines future needs. Develops and executes plan to achieve these skills and capabilities.
  • Develops and executes Always-On and Advanced Development activities for department.
  • Lead team through project, organization, and business changes.
  • Develop and coach required individual job skills that enable team members to elevate performance.
  • Set standards of performance for team and individual team members.
  • Manages all aspects of a complex and significant engineering project, from start to finish, so that it is completed on time and within budget.
  • Uses and applies advanced engineering principles within a particular field of specialization.  
  • Develops and applies engineering standards and procedures and provides advice on issues within the engineering field.
  • Effectively communicates technical material to internal business units.
  • Solid understanding of AOS processes and customers, participates in functional best practices, and has recognized expertise by operations.
  • Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and applications, and identifies projects of value to the company.
  • Advanced problem solving skills in an area of technical expertise of interest to the company.
  • Excellent analytical skills for reviewing costs and preparing budget reports.
  • Manage project budgets and determine expenses and headcount needed for each.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of related work experience.
  • 5 years Leadership experience.
