Primary Function

As the Product Manager Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for acting as the Sourcing Lead in all Specialty Products and Electronics product engineering projects that require Sourcing support and managing the activities necessary to meet both project and Sourcing objectives.        

Responsibilities

  • Must represent Supply Chain Sourcing beginning with the exploratory phase of product engineering projects and manage the project from a sourcing perspective through project completion.  This will require excellent communication and working relationships with all Commodity Managers, involved Product Engineering personnel, and Plant Operations.
  • Work with the Commodity Managers and the supply base to identify technical, quality, supply, or cost risk associated with product engineering projects and provide proposals to mitigate those risks.
  • Possess demonstrated expertise and knowledge of sourcing commodities and components.  Work with related operational areas to gain an understanding of commodity applications in various operations.
  • Responsible for attending all engineering change request and engineering change notice meetings, reviewing the information with the appropriate commodity managers, and approving on behalf of Supply Chain.
  • As required prepare requests for quotations, solicit quotes, perform cost analysis, provide updated supplier part readiness and consult with Commodity Managers on sourcing decisions. 
  • Submit all pertinent supplier data updates to sourcing administration for accurate system pricing, effectivity dates and general record maintenance
  • Maintain excellent communication and rapport with Commodity Managers, Engineering Department Leaders, Quality Control, Materials and Plant Operations concerning ongoing use of purchased commodities and future discussions/negotiations with potential supplier opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the aggressive pursuit of inventory, margin, and/or sales enhancements to meet and exceed mutually agreed value realization goals.
  • Discuss opportunities, needs, and concerns with multiple functional areas within a strong matrix management organizational structure (e.g., Product Engineering, Plant Operations, Customer Service, etc.).  Provide excellent ongoing communication to Supply Chain on project status.
  • Develop a high-level understanding of parts and systems used in relevant products and become familiar with the related operations to fully understand the impacts of pending projects.
  • Provide excellent knowledge concerning all facets of the supply chain from suppliers’ sources to end customer concerning manufacturing processes.
  • Possess demonstrated skill set concerning computer-based applications such as ERP systems, inventory replenishment systems, etc. in support of negotiated supply agreements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Supply Chain or related field (MBA is a plus).
  • Minimum five years’ experience in purchasing function as a Buyer for a multi-national company, or similar responsibility with clearly demonstrated achievements; six years of experience preferred
  • Excellent record of successful strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Excellent applied negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work/operate independently with minimal oversight, but with focused objectives and discipline to obtain results.
  • Impeccable moral character and high ethical standards.
  • Excellent computer-based skills including spreadsheet development, word processing, PowerPoint presentations, and total cost analysis.
  • Willingness to travel.
