Primary Function

The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes at Lochinvar.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods using data collection, data analysis and experience.
  2. Optimize and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace.
  3. Confer with planning, manufacturing and design staff concerning product design and tooling and equipment needs to ensure efficient product introduction and manufacturing processes.
  4. Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  5. Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  6. Confer with Manufacturing Engineering Manager to plan capacities and supporting requirements to insure facility operations and production support.
  7. Apply sound ergonomic and safety practices in all functions of manufacturing process, equipment and facilities.
  8. Lead cross functional teams in problem solving of production issues and product introduction.
  9. Work closely in a team environment with engineers, supervisors and manufacturing personnel.
  10. Provide guidance to Manufacturing Engineers and maintenance personnel; assisting in problem solving of production issues, equipment purchases and general manufacturing methods and practices.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, required and 5+ years of related experience
  2. Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other Continuous Improvement Methodologies
  3. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  4. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  5. Ability to plan, develop, implement and coach teams as project leader
  6. Ability to develop and maintain budgetary requirements of tasks or projects
